Snow, Ice, a whole lot of cold and a remote mountain top above 4,000ft in West Virginia provided a peaceful retreat for three days to kick off 2014. It got cold as all hell, with temps dropping below zero combined with 30-40knot winds that dropped the windchill to nearly 30 below the second night. Add in six inches of snow and a 15-20 mile drive down an unplowed forest road, and you have a pretty good adventure, even for car camping. (Snickers just had another major surgery so no backpacking for several more months).
