Worked all weekend and decided to sneak out on a beautiful afternoon to one of my favorite trout streams. Somehow this Spring has been so busy it wasn’t until today that i made my first casts of the year. Absolutely gorgeous day and all the hard work i put into training the dog has paid off. With only the rare command, she has turned into an amazing fishing companion… enjoying the opportunity to chase squirrels and play in the woods while staying close but out of the way. I have a love-hate relationship with winter. The lack of light, the cold and lifeless woods are all a bit depressing but snakes & bugs have called it quits for the year and there’s an odd photogenic quality to the emptiness.

I hadn’t been back to Skyline Drive since the beginning of march for a number of reasons. Always nice though to get some use of the National Parks pass and some fresh, albeit brisk, air. [Full Set]

Quality is somewhat subpar, basically 1/100th the quality of the originals and let wordpress (the software platform for this blog) do the auto-resizing which is kinda meh compared to photoshop optimization.

The Washington Post contacted me asking if I would take some photos of the Winter Solstice for them… here are a couple of the shots. Kind of exciting though almost everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. 2 lenses went kaput, camera wouldn’t turn on and wasn’t feeling great. Many thanks to mikeontheinternets for letting me borrow his 8mm fisheye, which along w/ the simplistic, but always reliable, 50mm 1.8 saved the day. The following photos appeared on WashingtonPost.com
